Displays:

A varied programme of displays and events make up the Suffolk Game and Country Fair.

Lurcher Display

New for 2010
This exciting new lurcher display will feature simulated coursing as well as lurcher racing displays. See the dogs reach speeds of up to 40mph as they chase a decoy hare, which makes for a spectacular display of speed and skill. Watch the lurchers in action from the sidelines or join in with your own dog.

Side Saddle Display

New for 2010
The Area 4 Side Saddle Display Team have put together a display which gives a wonderful insight into the elegant art of riding aside. All of the talented riders compete at local and national level in a range of disciplines including equitation, dressage and jumping, while also enjoying hunting and hacking with their versatile horses. The display is a real spectacle involving adult and junior riders in historical costume who will show how safe jumping side saddle can be, and the show culminates in a musical ride with a military theme.

Family Horse Show (Sunday)

The horse show is open to riders of all abilities with the focus on family fun. There is a wide range of show classes as well as gymkhana games to suit all ages of riders and horses. Every entry receives a bespoke horse brass to take home. The climax of the show is the spectacular fancy dress class which always attracts an array of amazing costumes. First and second prize winners in each class also go forwards to the championship where a £50 cash prize is up for grabs.

Vintage Parade

Big boys and small will love the display of vintage machinery which will include a wide selection of vehicles. Take a moment to enjoy the elderly tractors as they stutter around the ring, or marvel at the purring engines of classic cars from a bygone age.

Parade of Hounds

Despite the implications of the Hunting Act, local hunts still form a vital part of the rural community. Enjoy the great spectacle of the hunt servants and their horses in all their finery as they parade around the ring blowing the traditional hunting horn with their pack of hounds. Be prepared for chaos as a couple of nosey hounds will inevitably venture into the crowds surrounding the main ring looking for an unattended ice cream or a tasty small child to lick to death!
